Heart of Dixie
Our Community Grants Program, which is funded by people who work in the bicycle industry, provides financial support for bike projects from coast to coast. Since 1999, this PeopleForBikes effort has invested in nearly 400 bicycle infrastructure projects and made more than $3 million in grant awards. One of our 2017 grantees was Ditto Landing West Greenway in Huntsville, Alabama. PeopleForBikes’ grant of $5,000 will help the Huntsville Madison County Marina & Port Authority add a 2-mile extension to the network of greenways along the Tennessee River. In conjunction with the City of Huntsville, the organization’s five-year plan will continue this expansion with connections to a local high school and residential areas.
